Coastal Plants and Seaweeds
Freathy, Whitsand Bay

Despite their abundance, array of flavours, and the copious nutrition they contain, the seaweeds of our shoreline remain relatively underappreciated within our British diets. The Family Foraging Kitchen team team believe that this should change. Join us for a walk across Cornwall's beautiful coastline as our head forager, Vix Hill-Ryder, demystifies the ocean and reveals the amazing wild foods it offers, both on its rocky front and beneath the clear waters.
This three-hour walk will explore both coastal paths and shoreline seaweeds, before culminating in a delicious tasting session. This cooking demonstration will show you how to prepare and cooking the foods you have gathered, as well as enabling you to taste your pickings in exciting ways! The course takes place between 1pm and 4pm at Freathy, Whitsand Bay, Cornwall. We recommend bringing a notepad and/or camera along with you to help record and, later, recall the wild foods your encounter. Please, however, do let us know if any children will be in attendance, so that we can keep track of numbers! Unfortuantely, we find that our walks are unsuitable for dogs and ask that they are not brought along with you. Logistics for the foraging course will be sent via email after the booking is made.
