Maker Heights is not only apprecaited by the community for its outstanding views but also for the abundance of delicious wild foods that it provides. From hedgerows and meadows to woodlands and clifftops, Maker is one of the most exciting places to forage in Cornwall. Our headquarters are found here too! This walk will guide you across Maker, exploring the diverse landscapes and flora it has to offer, focussing on the variety of wild food ingredients that can be found throughout the late winter and early spring seasons.
Forager, Vix Hill-Ryder, will teach you have to recognise and pick wild foods that are not only typical of coastal regions but those that can be found across the country. Then, before the day ends, there will be a cooking and tasting session that sees Vix demonstrate how to incorporate these foods into your kitchen and diet, giving you the opportunity to eat your foraged foods in exciting ways.
This course begins at 10.30 and concludes at 1.30pm. Please do make a note of any dietary requirements you might have when booking as we like to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the recipes we taste at the end of the session. Adult foraging walk tickets are £30 and we welcome children to attend for free. Please, however, do let us know if any children will be in attendance, so that we can keep track of numbers! Unfortuantely, we find that our walks are unsuitable for dogs and ask that they are not brought along with you. Logistics for the foraging course will be sent via email after the booking is made.
