Spend a morning in the woodland at Horsepool Apiary, on the Antony Estate in SE Cornwall, learning to craft with wood. No experience is necessary.
Using hand-carving techniques and deveoping whittling skills, our expert craftsman, Robbie, teaches you have to create tools and designs with only a log and a knife. This course will guide you through knife safety, how to understand and work with wood, and, ultimately, how to transform raw material into a thing of beauty. We supply you with all the tools you need to learn and whittle on the day, guiding you to create a basic (but nonetheless brilliant object) like a spoon, bear, or a toadstool. Then, once you've finished, you'll be able to take your new skills with you and begin whittling anywhere!
We believe our souls are missing the connection with nature that our indigenous selves had. Through hands on spoon carving workshops we build individuals confidence and curiosity. Letting nature be the teacher. The perfect way to relax into nature and ourselves.
The workshop takes place between 10.00 and 15.00 with all tools and timber supplied. Children are very welcome but we have a minimum age requiremnt of 12 years and all children must be with a parent/carer.
£30 per person
