Learn the traditional art of hedgelaying!
Learn how to correctly lay hedges to create natural boundaries and protect flora and fauna. This course will cover everything you need to know and equip you with the skills and techniques you will need to succesfully complete a section of hedge. No experience required as this course is designed for beginners and refreshers wanting to learn and hone in their skills, as well as those who just want to practice skills already learnt.
The purpose of hedgelaying is to restore a hedge that has become sparse at the base, or has grown without being trimmed. Hedgelaying thickens a hedge therefore giving more shelter for livestock on farms and a habitat for nesting birds and wildlife.
This course takes place outside so please dress for the weather and bring a strong pair of thorn proof gloves and wear sturdy footwear.

We are based on the beautiful Rame Peninsula in southeast Cornwall. You can choose from hedgerow walks with stunning sea views, coastal walks that finish on the wonderful Cornish shoreline, woodland walks and even discover what's hidden in the wild urban landscapes of our nearest city, just across the water - Plymouth. We range in price from our popular monthly wild food walks (with a cookery class using the wild produce we've collected at the end also included!) for just £25 an adult and children go free. Bespoke private walks can be arranged at any time (and location of your choosing) - and we also offer exciting packages tailored for honeymooners and corporate team building days etc (please see the relevant pages on this site!). We also run courses in traditional countryside crafts - such as beekeeping, willow weaving and working with wild game.
